- A membrane covering the face of certain children at birth, also called the veil. The phenomenon is often described as "being born behind the Veil." Not the commonly misunderstood remnant of the amniotic sac (see caulbearer).
- A style of close-fitting circular cap worn by women in the 16th century and later, often made of linen. [1]
